Ventriculitis secondary to an open meningocele is a severe neurosurgical complication. Ventriculostomy continues to be an important mainstrain in monitoring and treatment. Given the appearance of ventriculitis associated with infrequent germs such as Pseudomonas fluorescens, new antimicrobial drugs have emerged as part of the treatment, for intravenous or intraventricular routes. However, there is currently not enough scientific evidence to safely support these therapeutic modalities. A case of neonatal ventriculitis due to Pseudomona fluorescens with satisfactory results after ventricular drainage and intraventricular treatment with
vancomycin is presented.
