Introduction: Uterine leiomyomas are the most common benign gynecological tumors in women of reproductive age. Between 30% and 40% of women may suffer from uterine miomas at some point in their lives, but most of them never produce symptoms. In some women they can cause hemorrhages, abdominal pain and infertility; these cases are those that can be treated surgically with the candidates for a miomectomy. Objective: A case of multiple abdominal myomectomy is presented at the Southern Regional Hospital. Clinical case: A 23-year-old patient of the Garifuna ethnic group, with a history of presenting abundant menstrual and intermenstrual bleeding, associated to generalized abdominal pain and severe anemia, which required red blood cells transfusion on three occasions. She was referred to the gynecology department of the Southern Regional Hospital of Dangriga, Belize, with a diagnosis of symptomatic uterine fibroids. Additional investigations were performed that allowed the diagnosis of multiple uterine leiomyomas. Surgical treatment consisting of multiple myomectomy was performed without transoperative complications. The patient's uterus was preserved, and she had a satisfactory postoperative recovery. Conclusions: Multiple uterine leiomyomatosis represents a clinical challenge due to age, signs and symptoms, which are decisive aspects when electing the treatment. We consider myomectomy to be a safe and effective surgical procedure to maintain the reproductive capacity of these patients.
