Diaper rash. A review
Keywords:
dermatitis del pañal, dermatitis, Candida albicans, pH urinarioAbstract
Diaper dermatitis is a localized dermatosis exclusively (at least initially) on the skin covered by the diaper. The term "diaperitis" or diaper rash is frequently used as a diagnosis, as if the various dermatoses that can affect this region constitute a single clinical entity. In reality, diaper rash is not a specific diagnosis, but rather a variable syndrome, initiated by the combination of several factors. The most significant are: prolonged exposure to urine and feces, maceration of the skin, and in many cases, secondary infection by bacteria or Candida albicans.
